On December 15, 2011 FTBO remitted a payment to defray healthcare costs for a sudden stroke victim.
Payment made by FTBO General Fund.
According to WebMD, “the financial cost of strokes in the US will soar to more than $2.2 trillion over the next 45 years if no action is taken to improve preventive care or treatment, according to a new study.” Preventive measures such as a balanced diet, exercise and checking blood pressure regularly are all recommended.
A stroke is a condition where a blood clot or ruptured artery or blood vessel interrupts blood flow to an area of the brain. A lack of oxygen and glucose (sugar) flowing to the brain leads to the death of brain cells and brain damage, often resulting in an impairment in speech, movement, and memory.
