Hi everyone,
This month’s Motivational Monday theme is “surrounded by light”. Below is a poem I wrote.
The thunder never hurts my ears unless I let it
I woke up. I walked outside and it started to drizzle.
I grabbed my umbrella, my shield, my protection.
At lunchtime, the skies were cloudy. I saw a steady rain through the window.
In the afternoon I could hear it pouring outside.
The wind picked up.
Then I heard it. Thunder. I saw it. Lightning.
I could not believe it.
Drizzle, clouds, downpour, wind, thunder, and lightning!
How is this fair? It’s too much! Can I handle it!?
I just sat there for a bit, eyes closed, curled up, frozen by the storm.
But then I reached into my back pocket.
I found a shiny, radiant, beautiful light source.
I opened my eyes. I opened my ears.
The lightning became dull. The thunder no longer hurt my ears.
I looked to my left, my right, above me and below me.
The sun! It had been there all along.
Yes, today I was overwhelmed by the storm.
Tomorrow, next week, next month, I don’t know for sure, things might be foggy.
However, from now on, I will reach into my back pocket and remind myself
The thunder will never hurt my ears unless I let it.
