The Value in Safe, Steady Riding

Hi All,

Today’s ride was from Portland, OR to Hood River, OR- a mere 75 miles but so beautiful. And please enjoy the pictures.

The ride paralleled the Columbia River (the reverse course of Lewis and Clark). As soon as we entered the Columbia River Valley, nature took over. The river, parks, waterfalls were spectacular. I really felt that 75 miles literally flew by.

I was amazed at the coolness riding in the forest. It was complemented by patches of sun, feeling like fall to a warm summer. A tail wind from the South West pushed us nicely all day.

Having completed my 3rd day of riding, I am fitting into the group, and see.I may not be the fastest but I am the safest 😀

Gary (pictured
ove) is from Dallas, TX (but a Packer fan so we both like beating Dallas). We posed overlooking the Columbia River. I cannot express how massive and beautiful it is.

In other news, I took two spills today: one pedaling up a steep grade on a gravel road, but only going 5 mph, and the other slowly passing a parked truck, again at a slow rate of speed)

…lesson learned through just a couple scrapes. I am still a safe rider.

Tomorrow is a huge step up heading to Boardman, OR…only 105 miles.

Appreciate everyone’s support,
