Rest Day

From 9/1/15:
Greetings from Missoula, Montana on a much needed day off.
With the next segment of this ride considered the toughest, I’m trying to get my rest.
However I did take a walk in town for lunch, and ventured around the University of Montana Campus.
Some fun facts are:
1) The Big L in the hill outside town stands for Loyola, but no one could explain to me. Just asking the wrong folks I guess.
Worth reporting because it is my Mom’s first name…
2) What is a “Hoot Owl Restriction”?  This I can explain…It is a historic term used to notify woodcutters of elevated fire danger. It also limited use of chainsaws to the morning hours when you can hear Hoot Owls.  The restriction is in place to reduce the risk of an accidental fire start by mechanical equipment during the hottest part of the day.  No chainsaws after 1:00 pm.  So there you go!
3) Also have some trivia: (answer key below)
What Rock and Roll musician gave a controversial “motivational speech” in 1990 at a Hellgate High School student assembly, during which he said,
“You’re born, you die–and you kick ass in between.”?
a) Bruce Springstein
b) Sammy Hagar
c) Ted Nugent
What radio icon got his first job at Missoula’s KGVO station, then was fired after being told he was “in the wrong business”?
a) Paul Harvey
b) Casey Kasem
c) Don Imus
Last question:
Up until a decade ago, what dish could you order at the 24 hour Oxford Saloon that would compel the server to yell to the cook, “(S)he needs ’em?
a) Rocky Mountain Oysters
b) Braised Beef Heart
c) Brains and Eggs
Went to Bigo for lunch and had basil-infused lemonade (waitress had to talk me into it, but I must say it was good), accompanied by a sausage sandwich smothered in Walla Walla onions.  Outstanding!
University of Montana is in the Big Sky Conference (we mostly see them during March Madness…occasionally) and are known as the Griz.
Answers from above:
Ted Nugent
Paul Harvey
Brains and Eggs
