Notes from today:
First of all, I want to pay my respects to the people who lost their lives on 9-11, and to the many who still mourn them. I took a picture of a flag at half-mast in rememberance of this sad day.
Today’s ride was 113 miles and 4,100 feet of climbing, but the challenge was offset by the beauty of The Badlands National Park!
I had no idea what to expect but let me use a few descriptors:
1) it looked like a mini Grand Canyon
2) It looked like a great setting for the old tv show, ‘Lost In Space’.
3) It could have been used to film the original Planet of the Apes
In addition, I saw a prairie dog and a big horn sheep up close. Very cool!
South Dakota has its own feel, as has every state thus far. I’m learning to balance the challenge of biking daily with taking in the raw beauty.
