Today I biked 114 miles and ended up in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Clear Lake is where Buddy Holly last performed at the Surf Hotel before taking a flight in bad weather and losing his life along with the Big Bopper (JP Richardson) and Ritchie Valens.
Giving up his seat on the flight that evening was Waylon Jennings and some believe the song American Pie was based on this event “the day the music died”.
Iowa has been windy, and lots and lots of corn fields.
Weather pattern is shifting overnight and I’m praying for a downwind day!
