New York State of Mind

New York State of Mind:

100 miles today in heavy rain ( but warm enough ) and I’m in Corning NY.

I’ve lived in NJ since 1984, but for the first 24 years of my life I was a New Yorker, and it feels like home.

Home is an often overused term, but in this case it’s not.

I grew up in Ilion, NY and went to college in Ithaca, NY. Both helped shape my future.

Tomorrow I’m seeing my college teammate Slick Watts and his wife Nancy at lunch, and my Mom for dinner in Casenovia.

I have to say that I’m really excited and it will be emotional as I’ve been away for 41 days and not seen anyone that I know and love.

We are also biking through Ithaca, and as I always do, I need to see the baseball field at IC and a group of my rider friends will join me.

Every time I see the field it just brings back good memories, and reminds me because I stayed one more year as grad assistant, I had the good fortune of meeting my Susie.

Big Day tomorrow!
