Motivational Monday: Ladybug in the Night

Hello everyone,

This week’s Motivational Monday theme is “ladybug in the night”.

Here is an original poem I wrote…

Ladybug in the night

I was walking at night with my nifty headlamp
And a ladybug landed on my heart.
It’s wings fluttered in the darkness,
Trying so desperately to fly,
But its legs were glued to my chest.
I squinted and counted
One, Two, Three, Four, Five Spots,
One for Strength,
Two for Perseverance,
Three for Resilience,
Four for Safeguarding
And Five for Luck.
I hadn’t seen a ladybug in months, let alone one at night.
I heard the alternating sounds of cars whizzing by and the steady pattern of my footsteps.
Whether I hopped over a pothole, ran to cross the street or settled back into my walking rhythm, the ladybug began to fall in sync with my heartbeat.
It seemed as if it would stay there as long as I needed it.
I walked 5 miles that night. One for each spot on the ladybug’s back.
As I rounded the corner back to my home,
The ladybug began to stir.
It gently left my sweatshirt, spread its wings and flew off into the night.
It showed some struggle at first, weaving, bouncing and floundering its way through the night sky.
Once the ladybug found its groove, she headed toward my home as if to kiss it good night.
Then, she flew with beautiful precision and grace toward the stars.
Good night ladybug. Thank you for your strength, perseverance, resilience, safeguarding and luck.
