Hi everyone,
This week’s Motivational Monday theme is “letting go of vulnerability”. A while back I was listening to an interview with Dr. Brene Brown, who wrote a book entitled: Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead.
The following quote really resonated with me: “Showing up means not saying I’m really excited to do something but I’ll do it when I lose 10 pounds or when I’m perfect or when I know exactly what to say and I’m confident that I won’t be criticized”.
Showing up means letting go of vulnerability and the fear of being judged by the way you look, act and feel. Most of the time, we think others are judging us but we really are only judging ourselves.
No one can tell that you gained 5 or 10 pounds; you still look beautiful. Chasing perfection is an impossible feat; An “A” is an “A”, whether it is a 92 or 100. If you are always thinking of the right thing to say, you’ll never say anything. Waiting will not increase your confidence; facing your fears will.
This week try “showing up” instead of shutting down.
Feeling confident with my vulnerability,
Janine
